Bar Manager
Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable, motivated and hands-on Bar Manager to oversee the daily operations of our bar. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hospitality, takes pride in creating a great guest experience and is comfortable leading a team while also working alongside them.
The Bar Manager will be responsible for opening and preparing the bar for business, working generally Monday through Friday lunch shift, managing the bartender team, developing drink specials and promotions, maintaining bar standards and working closely with the culinary and management teams to help drive business.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Bar Operations
- Open the bar and ensure the space is clean, organized, stocked and ready for service.
- Set and verify the cash drawer at the beginning of the shift.
- Maintain proper cash-handling procedures and ensure drawers and transactions are accurate.
- Monitor bar inventory, product levels and supplies.
- Communicate low-stock and out-of-stock items to management.
- Ensure beer, liquor, wine, mixers, garnishes and bar supplies are properly stocked.
- Maintain a clean, organized and professional bar throughout service.
- Ensure opening, shift-change and closing procedures are consistently followed.
Bartender Team Leadership
- Lead, support and hold the bartender team accountable to established expectations.
- Help train new bartenders on service standards, drink preparation, POS procedures and bar policies.
- Provide direction to bartenders during shifts and help maintain an efficient flow of service.
- Promote teamwork, professionalism and strong communication among staff.
- Address employee concerns and performance issues appropriately and communicate with ownership/management when needed.
- Lead by example by providing excellent service and maintaining a positive, professional attitude.
Guest Experience & Business Development
- Build relationships with customers and help create an atmosphere that keeps guests coming back.
- Maintain the service standards and reputation of the business.
- Develop and recommend drink specials, featured cocktails, shots and seasonal promotions.
- Work with management to identify opportunities to increase bar traffic and beverage sales.
- Help promote special events, entertainment, sporting events and other business-driving opportunities.
Culinary Collaboration
- Work closely with the culinary team to ensure smooth communication between the kitchen and bar.
- Coordinate food and beverage specials when appropriate.
- Communicate anticipated business levels, events and promotions with the culinary team.
- Help create a positive working relationship between front-of-house and back-of-house employees.
- Assist in creating specials and events that encourage both food and beverage sales.
Qualifications & Job Expectations
- Previous bartending experience required.
- Previous leadership, supervisory or management experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of beer, wine, spirits and basic cocktail preparation.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Dependable, organized and able to take initiative without constant direction.
- Comfortable handling cash and working with a POS system.
- Ability to remain calm and professional during busy periods.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and special events as needed.
- Schedule would be generally Monday- Friday lunch shift
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35.0 – 40.0 per week
