** Railroad Experience REQUIRED **

Primary Activities and Responsibilities- Conductor

The Railroad Conductor position may lead to other opportunities including Remote Control Operator and/or Locomotive Engineer.

This position will be to control and coordinate the train movement while switching railcars whether in the yard of a railroad, industrial plant, or similar location to facilitate the unloading and loading of railcars in a safe and efficient manner to service our customers. This position is a manual labor position which requires that the individual become proficient in the following skills, duties and requirements within a prescribed training and introductory period.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Demonstrate predictable, reliable, and timely attendance.

Follow written and verbal directions to complete assigned tasks on schedule.

Read, write, and communicate in English and understand basic math.

Observes radio handset and hand signals.

Reads and interprets bulletins and railroad rules, safety rules, regulations and best practices.

Talks to crew members and others via radio to give or receive switching information.

Assist in throwing switches or perform other activities involved when performing railcar switching operations

Apply hand brakes

Operate coupling lever to couple or uncouple railcars

Throw track switches to move cars, using lantern, hand signals or radio

Connects air hoses to cars when making up trains

Performs other duties as requested or required

* Work outside in all weather conditions

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)
