Job Summary
The Community Education Specialist will implement The Power Project’s human trafficking prevention and youth empowerment programs, including meeting the educational needs of diverse populations within a variety of settings.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Community Engagement
· Build new and manage existing community partnerships with local agencies, policy makers and key stakeholders and identify new training opportunities.
· Attend local human trafficking related events as needed.
· Represent organization and present at national conferences as needed.
Program Administration
· Schedule and facilitate human trafficking prevention and youth success trainings for youth ages k-21, administrators, staff, and parents in a variety of agencies, including but not limited to: schools, group homes, juvenile detention facilities, child protective services offices, and other community-based organizations that work with youth.
· Complete data collection and reporting accurately.
· Meet regional training goals.
· Assist with special projects as assigned.
· Attend weekly supervision meetings and scheduled organization meetings.
· Provide trauma-informed support to partners handling human trafficking cases within their agencies.
· Consistently participate in professional seminars, conferences and/or workshops to increase professional knowledge related to human trafficking.
Other Duties
· All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
· Be at least 21 years of age.
· Must submit proof of valid Driver’s License.
· Must submit proof of valid car insurance, including effective dates insured.
· Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
· Be out of “the life” at least five years (if applicable).
· Not be in treatment for substance abuse and have a sobriety period of at least three years.
· Must have a flexible schedule and be willing to work evening and weekend hours on.
· Must be willing to travel for remote training facilitation and/or conference speaking engagements.
Education And/or Experience
· Minimum Bachelor’s Level in Social Work, Education, Psychology, or related field or equivalent work experience (Preferred)
· Prior human trafficking prevention experience. (Preferred)
· Prior experience working in under-resourced communities and with minors. (Required)
· Presentation and public speaking skills. (Required)
· Sales or relationship building experience. (Preferred)
Performance Standards
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint, is imperative.
· Must be able to multi-task, working on several projects simultaneously.
· Ability to work well with internal and external teams is essential.
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
· Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
· Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
· Ability to speak effectively before groups.
· Ability to problem solve.
· Ability to apply concepts of basic math.
