The Post Youth Center is a Christ-centered non-profit organization located in downtown Goshen, IN. The youth center is a place where everyone is welcome regardless of their backgrounds, family structure or beliefs. Our goal is to share the love of Christ with any middle school or high school student that come to The Post.

Youth Center Support Staff

Position Objective

At The Post, our mission is to provide a safe environment for our youth , challenging them through intentional relationships, opening the door to allow God to reveal their identity and purpose through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Support Staff are responsible to model a genuine Christian lifestyle to those in 6th through 12th grade, providing youths’ safety and well-being while befriending youth to nurture spiritual growth, in order to lead them one step closer to Jesus, in a manner consistent with The Post’s mission, vision and values. Our teens are generally energetic and exposed to difficult life circumstances, so Support Staff who can be empathetic and strong leaders are essential in the kind of work we do.

Key Job Accountabilities

  • Responsible to act as mentor to male and female students, engaging in spiritual mentoring and help lead small groups during programs
  • Works alongside staff aiding in service and work activities to provide leadership, accountability and encouragement.
  • Responsible for the physical and spiritual welfare of youth through discipline and guidance.
  • Responsible to help plan, lead, and assist any and all program elements.
  • Maintains clean work environment, including restrooms, kitchen and general tidying.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by Operations Manager or Executive Director.

General Qualifications

A mature follower of Jesus, still growing and developing in their faith. Fully in accord with The Post Youth Center’s (The Post) mission, vision, values and statement of beliefs. Committed to living these out personally, and instilling them in the organization. Of strong moral character and integrity.

Education/Certifications/Licenses

  • High school graduate. College experience preferred.
  • Able to pass background check/drug test
  • Clean driving record

Work Experience

  • Prior or current experience working with youth in 6th through 12th grade
  • Prior youth center experience preferred.
  • Prefer prior experience in leadership roles.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Preferred previous experience working with junior high or high school students.
  • Love for youth of all ages, demographics or all socioeconomic backgrounds is essential
  • Capable of providing strong Christian role model. Ability to articulate their own faith
  • Must be able to lead and teach with patience and clear instruction.
  • Mature understanding and respect for authority and peers, as well as The Post guidelines and principles.
  • Ability to engage in active listening and conflict resolution.
  • A heart to serve in a flexible capacity.

Additional Requirements

The physical environment may require the employee to work both inside and outside in conditions that require sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, and lifting.

  • Will be expected to help in cleaning responsibilities.
  • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in The Post’s, Vision, Values and Code of conduct statements.
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation, drug testing, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $15.50 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week

Work Location: In person

Salary : $15 - $16
