The Banquet Captain will be responsible for managing operations in an efficient and professional manner to ensure quality service to guests while ensuring all colleagues maintain Forbes Five-Star service standards to help banquet operations proceed smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Check to ensure that all rooms are set-up to department specifications and diagrams
- Meet and talk with host. Keep in direct contact with host during the function. Handle or delegate all special requests from the host
- Supervise Housemen, servers and bartenders assist when necessary in the set-up of all Banquet rooms if needed
- Maintain accurate paperwork for inventory levels, scheduling, payroll, employee records, captain’s reports, gratuity sheets and Banquet checks
- Ensure guest satisfaction during the function and resolve customer complaints
- Communicate with Banquet Chef, Director of Banquets or Executive Chef regarding any problems relating to the food or the kitchen
- Communicate with Engineering to ensure quality physical appearance of the banquet space and complete work orders if needed
- Knowledge of cash registers and other Banquet related equipment

- 5 years’ experience in Banquets, 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role/preferably in banquets
- 1-year prior inventory/cost control experience.
- Must speak, read, write and understand English
- Must possess basic mathematical skills to include ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide specific to position responsibilities
- Previous hotel experience, luxury or Forbes experience preferred
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends and holidays is required
- Physical demands: Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis and prolonged extended periods of standing
