Job Title: X-Ray Technologist
Reports to: Clinic Manager
Key Responsibilities:
Imaging & Technical Operations
- Perform X-ray examinations on patients according to physician orders and established protocols.
- Adjust X-ray equipment settings to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
- Position patients correctly for optimal imaging results.
- Evaluate the quality of X-ray images to ensure diagnostic accuracy.
- Make adjustments to equipment as needed to optimize image quality.
- Perform routine maintenance on X-ray equipment and coordinate with appropriate personnel for repairs.
Patient Care & Safety
- Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the imaging process, providing clear instructions and answering any questions.
- Follows ALARA principles
- Respond promptly to emergencies.
- Adhere to infection control protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
Patient Communication & Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare staff.
- Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals as needed.
Documentation & Records Management
- Adhere to all regulatory and safety guidelines, including HIPAA, ensuring patient information is handled confidentially and securely
- Record and maintain accurate patient information, including medical history and scan details, in the electronic health records (EHR) system.
Safety, Compliance & Quality
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and standards.
- Adhere to regulatory and safety guidelines, including HIPAA, and maintain compliance with all applicable standards and regulations.
- Participate in quality assurance activities to ensure ongoing adherence to imaging protocols.
Professional Development
- Stay informed about advancements in X-Ray technology, attend relevant training, and participate in continuing education to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Certification by ARRT
- BLS certification is required
- Strong technical skills in operating X-Ray equipment and ensuring image quality
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to view computer screens for extended periods
- Lifting. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.
- Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Stooping. Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities and back muscles.
- Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
