Tennis Pro

Summary:

Teaches tennis & pickleball lessons, promotes shop sales and participates in all tennis & pickleball related event activities for the enjoyment of the members and their guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following;

• Provides private and group instruction for all levels of tennis & pickleball players
• Participates in designated Men’s & Ladies’ tennis & pickleball teams
• Arranges clinics, rosters, weekly lineups, luncheons, tryouts and all aspects of a successful men’s & ladies’ competitive program.
• Implements all emergency procedures including fire, inclement weather, hurricane and medical issues.
• Runs assigned tennis & pickleball events and activities held on a weekly and monthly basis.
• Assists the Resort and Tennis Shoppe with selling racquets, paddles, strings and merchandise. 
• Aids in booking lessons, answering phones and any other desk duties as assigned.
• Attends weekly staff meetings and all staff training sessions. 
• Communicates with members, co-workers, management and the general public in a courteous and professional manner.
• Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
• Exhibits and maintains a professional demeanor to reflect a positive image of The Polo Club.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Head Tennis Professional or the Director of Tennis & Pickleball.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• High pickleball level of play. Tennis level of play 4.5 or higher. UTR 8.5 or higher.
• Cardiovascular conditioning must be great enough to be on your feet and be able to play tennis & pickleball for at least four hours at a time.    
• Ability to deal with a large club with hundreds of members
• Must be skilled enough at playing tennis & pickleball to be able to execute all tennis & pickleball shots.
• Knowledge of how to play and compete successfully in the games of tennis & pickleball.
• Requires patience and the ability to stay calm and under control when dealing with difficult situations.   
• Ability to verbally communicate well in English and in writing.
• Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions in English.
• Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, co-workers and members.
• Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Education and/or Experience:

One to two years related experience and/or training.

Language Skills:

Ability to communicate well in English.  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively on a one-on-one basis with members and guests.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

No requirements.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

AED and CPR certification.
