MACHINE MAINTENANCE APPRENTICESHIP
Plastek is seeking entry-level candidates for its new Machine Maintenance Apprenticeship Program.
Before being accepted into an apprenticeship at Plastek, an applicant must initially pass an aptitude evaluation. Once hired and throughout the entirety of the program, an apprentice is a full-time paid employee who will produce high-quality work while learning and developing the required skillset to become a certified Machine Technician. This will be attained through on-the-job mentor led training, through in classroom technical training courses at local trade schools, and through online offerings. Competency checks are conducted throughout the program to ensure that apprentices are mastering the material and skills. The apprenticeship offers a state-recognized certification to be issued at the completion of the 2-3 year program.
A Machine Maintenance Apprentice is mentored by other skilled workers. The mentorship aspect provides him/her with enhanced critical hands-on learning and industry-essential skills.
This is a great opportunity for a mechanically inclined individual interested in working with machinery.
This position does require a 5 year commitment to Plastek. Training and classes are 2-3 years then additionally work for us for at least 2 years after. You must be ok attending classes and obtain passing grades.
Applicants must be open to working any available shift. Shift preference cannot be guaranteed.
The apprentice will develop knowledge and capabilities to:
- Keep production assembly and molding machines running with a minimum of down time.
- Clean, grease and oil large assembly and plastic injection molding machines
- Replace air, oil and water filters
- Perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs
- Inspect, adjust and/or replace worn parts
- Record work performed on machines
- Inventory oils, greases, filters and supplies
- Safety check machines
- Responsible for safe operation and handling procedures in work area.
- Accept, work on, and complete work orders in SAP computer system.
· Troubleshoot & repair assembly and injection molding machines & related support equipment.
· Diagnose and solve problems for malfunctioning equipment, perform corrective adjustments, pneumatics and hydraulics.
· Accept philosophy of continuous improvement by participating in training and by reducing waste and improving efficiencies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience using basic hand tools
- Must be a self-starter, motivated and possess the desire and willingness to learn and grow
- Able and willing to follow instructions and complete the required training/schooling
- Good attendance and attitude
- Willing and able to work all shifts to fulfill production needs
Job Type: Full-time
The Apprentice programs start when the first class begins with a pay rate of $18.00 with regular increases. Raises are given based on attendance, performance reviews and grades upon completion of each level.
