The PLASTEK GROUP is seeking an EHS SPECIALIST.
POSITION SUMMARY
Establish and promote a safe, accident free, and healthy work environment by performing the following duties personally or working closely with company personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety
- Study and analyze industrial hazards and accidents
- Develop safety policies and procedures to comply with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
- Coordinate, provide leadership and participate in Safety Committee monthly meetings.
- Regularly audit organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, and recommend corrective or preventative measures.
- Record and track the resolutions for safety audit infractions through to resolution.
- Keeps managers and employees alerted as to the hazards of working with toxic fumes, dangerous chemicals and any other hazardous substances.
- Investigate accidents and cooperate in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
- Hearing conservation testing and training. CAOHC certification preferred.
- Ergonomic assessments.
- Devises, supervises, and coordinates training programs or media which will increase proficiency in safe practices and promote safety consciousness.
- Maintains safety files and records.
- Provide safety training.
- Facilitate Incident Review Meetings to determine corrective actions and track those CAs identified to completion.
- Manage educational and incentive programs to promote safe workplace practices.
Environmental
- Ensure compliance with Local reporting, State DEP and EPA regulatory requirements.
- Satisfy customer requests for environment sustainability reporting
- Arrange for hazardous ,non-hazardous, & universal waste disposal.
- Maintain waste and environmental issue records and documents.
- Compile and submit annual state and federal environmental reports.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Detail oriented.
- Possess strong organizational, oral, written and interpersonal skills.
- Possess good time management skills.
- Be creative with new and engaging ideas to educate the employee population.
- Ability to manage on multiple tasks and see through to completion.
- Be self directed and self motivated.
- Be confident and comfortable in facilitating meetings and following up with participants on action items.
- Knowledge of OSHA, EPA and PA DEP standards and codes.
- Good project management skills to coordinate the implementation of safety and environmental projects.
- Desire to learn and relate the company business with safety and environmental procedures and regulations.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE AND BACKGROUND
- 1-3 years in related field.
- Past experience in running a safety program in which safety and environmental compliance was included.
- Computer knowledge to include Windows, Excel and Microsoft office.
