Overview
The Plantry Cafe is a plant-based, mostly gluten-free dining and events concept in Baton Rouge.
We are seeking a reliable, organized, respectful kitchen professional who can run service and contribute to a calm, well-structured environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to manage a small team and contribute to a unique dining atmosphere that showcases healthier options in a presentation that feels indulgent and adventurous.
Our schedule is focused on weekends, Friday and Sunday, with event space rentals outside of those hours. Weekday shifts are flexible for prep work and meal plans. We are open to part-time or full-time availability.
Role Duties
- Lead day-to-day kitchen execution during service and prep.
- Maintain consistency, organization, and food quality.
- Oversee prep flow, station setup, and service timing.
- Support inventory awareness for stock ordering.
- Work collaboratively in an established menu and system as needed.
- Demonstrate task flexibility based on workflow needs.
Compensation Structure
- Working Evaluation: $20-$24/hour, graduated increases through training over a 2-4 week course, length depending on part-time or full time availability as well as performance metrics. Designed to assess fit under real service conditions.
- Pay for Performance: $25-$30/hour, potential for graduated increases over 30-90 days with demonstration of independence without supervision, responsible leadership, calm accountability, encouraging attitude towards employees, and professional communication across the team.
- Retention & Growth: Compensation is structured to reward consistency and long-term alignment. Team members who demonstrate reliability, strong execution, and leadership in service are eligible for increased pay and potential transition into a salaried role with benefits based on continued performance after the evaluation period.
