Position: Outside Horticultural Technician
Reports To: General Manager
Days needed: Must be available Mondays and Thursdays
Position Summary
The Outside Horticultural Technician is responsible for installing, watering, maintaining, and enhancing seasonal exterior plantings at commercial properties throughout Northeast Wisconsin. This position helps ensure every client receives healthy, beautiful displays while providing exceptional customer service and representing The Plant People professionally.
Essential Responsibilities
Installation
Install seasonal flowers, shrubs, and ornamental plants.
Prepare containers and planting beds with soil and amendments.
Arrange plants according to design plans.
Install mulch, decorative materials, and seasonal décor as needed.
Safely load, unload, and transport plants, soil, and equipment.
Plant Care & Maintenance
Water containers and landscape beds thoroughly.
Monitor soil moisture and adjust watering based on weather conditions.
Deadhead, prune, groom, and clean plant material.
Fertilize according to company standards.
Scout for insects, disease, nutrient deficiencies, and environmental stress.
Remove weeds and debris from planting areas.
Replace plants as directed.
Equipment & Vehicle Care
Safely operate company vehicles.
Use pumps, hoses, irrigation equipment, hand tools, ladders, and power equipment properly.
Maintain a clean, organized vehicle and work area.
Report equipment issues promptly.
Customer Service
Maintain a professional appearance and attitude.
Be courteous and respectful while working on client properties.
Communicate client concerns to management.
Protect client property and leave every site clean.
Teamwork
Work efficiently with crew members.
Follow daily schedules and route assignments.
Assist other departments during busy seasons as needed.
Maintain productivity while meeting quality standards.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous horticulture, landscaping, greenhouse, or gardening experience preferred but not required.
Proof of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication and time management skills.
Reliable and dependable attendance.
Physical Requirements
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
Stand, bend, kneel, squat, and reach throughout the day.
Work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, humidity, and wind.
Walk on uneven terrain.
Safely climb ladders when required.
Perform repetitive physical tasks for extended periods.

Pay: From $15.00 per hour
