The Planet Group is currently seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer for a growing company in the commercial and industrial building engineering industry. Qualified candidates must have a Professional Engineer (PE) license, 10 years of experience designing building mechanical systems, and strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit/BIM. Job Description
- Design building mechanical systems (HVAC) including system concepts, calculations, energy modeling, layout, sizing, selections, specifications, and coordination.
- Perform site visits to evaluate existing mechanical systems or inspect work in progress.
- Prepare engineering reports and documentation.
- Review and respond to team members on project design work, RFIs, submittals, and other construction-related documents in a professional and timely manner.
- Monitor and control project progress against scope, schedule, and budget.
- Attend client meetings and support project planning and proposal efforts.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers while contributing to team collaboration.
Requirements
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) – Michigan preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or similar field
- 10 years of experience designing building mechanical systems
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit/BIM
- Experience with building energy modeling concepts and software preferred
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards
- Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary project teams
