Mechanical Engineer (Process Piping Design / PE) — Heavy Industrial

$141K–$158K base (DOE) profit sharing bonus | Relocation available | No sponsorship

We’re hiring a senior Mechanical Engineer to lead process piping design efforts for heavy industrial capital projects (pulp & paper-heavy, plus power/chemical/manufacturing). This is a hands-on technical leadership role overseeing piping/mechanical 3D design and stress analysis while guiding a small team (designer early-career engineer) and keeping projects on budget and on schedule.

What You’ll Do

• Lead mechanical/piping design on industrial projects from field verification through deliverables
• Direct and review 3D piping design models/drawings and ensure design intent, standards, and code compliance
• Perform and oversee piping stress analysis (Triflex preferred; open to Caesar II or Autodesk FEA)
• Manage design workload/priorities, coach the team, and improve design/checking procedures
• Partner cross-functionally (other disciplines, project engineers) to drive efficient, constructible solutions
• Support scope development, quotes/bids, document control, and project closeout activities
• Stamp drawings (AL, GA, MS, FL)

Required Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
• 10 years supporting heavy industrial projects (pulp & paper a plus, not required)
• Active P.E. license (required)
• Piping stress analysis experience (Triflex / Caesar II / Autodesk FEA)
• 3D piping/mechanical design experience: AutoCAD Plant 3D preferred; open to PDS, PDMS, CADWorx, Smart 3D, etc.

Work Setup & Travel

• Onsite (no hybrid)
• Hours: Mon–Fri, typically 7:00am–3:30pm (flexible)
• Some overtime (straight-time pay); occasional 45–50 hour weeks
• Travel is mostly day trips; a few overnights per year
