What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Manager position at The Pittsburgh Paints Company?
Product Manager – US Retail will develop and execute the product strategy for assigned categories across key retail partners including Home Depot, Walmart, and Menards.
You will support profitable growth of the product lines across all brands and sales channels, develop a detailed understanding of the key drivers of the category and product lines for the target market segments, gain insights on competitive products and their perceived value, and bring our products to market in a way that meets our business goals.
You will report to the Sr. Portfolio Manager and work a hybrid schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Innovation, NPD Execution, Commercialization, Go to Market Strategies
- Lead New Product Development (NPD) projects from concept through commercialization
- Translate consumer, pro, and retailer insights into product requirements and claims
- Prepare and review stage gate documents including customer field trials, business cases, volume forecasts, and margin targets
- Coordinate with supply chain to develop sourcing strategies
- Collaborate with R&D in the refinement of technical capabilities of our products and serve as the commercial voice in stage-gate development
- Partner with Marketing to define positioning, claims, packaging, messaging and label development
- Align with Sales on retailer strategies, assortment, and promotional planning
- Support launch toolkits including training materials, selling stories, and FAQs
- Track post-launch performance and lead optimization actions
- Help develop criteria for product end-of-life cycle; perform analysis for those candidates, decision and communication of products eliminated and replacement products
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, related technical field, or Marketing required.
- 3-5 years of Product Management and/or Development, Technical, Marketing experience.
- Experience in the home improvement/paint/coatings/Woodcare/Stain industry would be beneficial.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
- Comfortable leading a cross functional team
- Strong strategic skills, enjoys utilizing data to inform business decisions and recommendations
