What are the responsibilities and job description for the Psychiatrist position at The Pisgah Institute?
Do you want to design your own practice? See the patients you want to see with the schedule that provides you with work-life balance? Be surrounded by the awe-inspiring scenery of the Appalachian Mountains? Join a multi-disciplinary team who truly cares about you? The Pisgah Institute (TPI) may be your place.
Located in Asheville, North Carolina, TPI is comprised of a multidisciplinary team and has been a staple in the community for nearly 30 years. In addition to individual, couples, family, and group therapy, we also provide medication management, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and assessment services. We contract with many community organizations to consult and provide psychiatric and psychological services. Additionally, we serve as a training site for psychologists, master’s level psychotherapists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.
The work environment is one that is characterized by support and our clients often remark on the casual, friendly atmosphere of the practice. Our office staff are unparalleled – many having worked at TPI for 20 years! Under the supervision of our experienced M.B.A. practice manager, our six office staff members coordinate intakes of new patients; verify insurance coverage; triage and distribute referrals to the practice among suitable clinicians; schedule patient appointments and clinical staff members’ meetings and other responsibilities; check patients in and out of the office; manage our medical records; handle contacts from patients about medications and refills; bill for services; and manage and collect accounts receivable from clients and third-party payers. Our office staff are highly efficient, well trained, unusually supportive, and personable. Our wonderful nurse provides prescribers with assistance for all prescription needs. TPI’s owners, all clinical employees, form a board of five shareholders who oversee the operation of the practice as well as make policy and financial decisions. They work hard to see that clinicians and office staff are happy at TPI and that our clients are well served. Buying into shareholdership could be considered for a clinician after two years of successful employment.
We want clinicians who want to engage in open communication among all of our employees, take ownership of problem solving, and strive to provide the best professional services possible. A strong referral base as well as productive relationships in our community provide for a busy practice environment. Clinicians have the opportunity to design their own schedule, work from home via telehealth, hybrid or in person formats, and treat the patients they want to treat in the way they see fit. The call schedule is not burdensome and is equitable. We offer group rates to our employees for health-insurance coverage and the opportunity to purchase life insurance as well as disability insurance. We also have an employee-funded safe-harbor 401K plan. There is the possibility of an annual bonus based on productivity.
We live our vision statement: Heal, Teach, Innovate.
TPI is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We strive to attract a diverse body of clinicians and a diverse patient population. We market, recruit, and educate ourselves with that goal in mind.
