What You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s degree in special education, education, Literature, or a related field
- Valid Connecticut state endorsement (165): Special Education: Comprehensive (Grades K-12), or (015): English (7-12), or eligibility for certification
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience teaching special education student populations with language-based learning differences
- Familiar with the IEP process and collection of progress monitoring data
- Create and maintain an orderly and aesthetic learning environment that accounts for students social, emotional, and executive functioning need
- Commitment to help children of all abilities reach their full potential
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative, enthusiastic style to fit with our small-team environment
- Deliver high-quality, data-driven mathematics instruction aligned with the school's mission and philosophy
- Differentiate instruction to accommodate students' learning styles, abilities, and current achievement levels
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including Present Levels of Performance, measurable goals, and objectives
- Participate as an active member of the Planning & Placement Team (PPT)
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, teaching methods, and learning principles to help students achieve academic and IEP goals
- Collect, analyze, and maintain progress monitoring data to inform instructional decisions
