Job description
The Pincho Truck is a Puerto Rican street food concept serving grilled pinchos, tostones, and tropical drinks at markets and events across New York City and Northern New Jersey. We operate in fast-paced, high-volume environments and take pride in strong service, speed, and representing the brand the right way.
We are looking for a reliable, energetic cashier / front of house team member to join our event crew. This role is customer-facing and important to the overall flow of service. You will be the first point of contact for guests, handle transactions, communicate clearly with the kitchen, and help keep the front of the booth organized during service.
This position will start with one Thursday per week at Smorgasburg WTC, with the opportunity for additional days as the season progresses and as more events are added.
Responsibilities
- Take customer orders accurately and efficiently using Square POS on a tablet
- Handle card and cash transactions correctly
- Communicate orders clearly to the kitchen team
- Answer basic menu questions, including ingredients and gluten-free options
- Keep the service counter and front-of-house area clean, stocked, and organized
- Help maintain flow during busy service periods
- Assist with setup before service and breakdown after service
- Represent The Pincho Truck professionally and positively with every customer interaction
Requirements
- Fluent in English and Spanish
- Friendly, professional, and comfortable speaking with customers
- Able to work quickly and stay composed in a high-volume environment
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable using a tablet-based POS system
- Able to stand for long shifts and work outdoors in changing weather
- Able to lift and move light to moderate event supplies as needed
- Food handler certification is a plus, or willingness to obtain one
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
Schedule
- Starts at 1 day per week
- Initial day is Thursday at Smorgasburg WTC
- Opportunity to grow into 2 to 4 days per week
- Typical shifts are 8 to 10 hours, including setup and breakdown
- Season runs approximately April through October
