The Logistics Specialist is responsible for preparing, packaging, and coordinating the shipment of capital equipment to domestic and international destinations. This role ensures compliance with all shipping regulations, documentation requirements, and company standards to guarantee timely and secure delivery of high-value equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Shipping Coordination
- Prepare and package capital equipment for safe transport, including custom crating and protective measures.
- Schedule and coordinate shipments with carriers (freight, air, ocean) for domestic and international deliveries.
- Ensure adherence to Incoterms and customer-specific shipping requirements.
- Documentation & Compliance
- Generate and review shipping documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, export declarations).
- Ensure compliance with U.S. export regulations, international customs requirements, and hazardous material guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments in ERP or logistics systems.
- Carrier & Vendor Management
- Communicate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers to track shipments and resolve issues.
- Negotiate shipping rates and optimize cost-effective solutions while meeting delivery timelines.
- Quality & Safety
- Inspect equipment prior to shipment for damage or discrepancies.
- Follow all safety protocols for handling heavy or sensitive equipment.
- Customer Service
- Provide shipment status updates to internal teams and customers.
- Address inquiries related to shipping schedules, documentation, and delivery.
- High school diploma or equivalent; logistics or supply chain certification preferred.
- 3 years of experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse operations (capital equipment experience a plus).
- Knowledge of international shipping regulations, Incoterms, and export compliance.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment safely.
