We are a growing outpatient mental health center providing a variety of services. Our approach to healing and wellness is focused on mind, body, and spirit as we aim to inspire our clients to make healthy choices that will support their wellbeing and personal success. We provide comprehensive mental health services to Wicomico, Worcester, and Somerset Counties.
We are seeking Family Support Specialists who love empowering their clients! As a Family Support Specialist at The Personal Wellness Center’s Blooming Lotus Project, you will join an elite clinical team at the first expressive arts therapy Child and Adolescent Wellness Center on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

Responsibilities
As a Family Support Specialist, your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing an assigned caseload, collaborating with families to assess needs, and implementing treatment interventions outlined in the youth's clinical treatment plan, crisis intervention, and case management.
- Working closely with assigned clinicians, utilizing community resources and services to support youth and families.
- Employing tools and activities from treatment plans to enhance behavioral, communication, coping, and problem-solving skills in youth.
- Providing direct intervention to youth and families through various techniques such as role-playing, behavior modification, and crisis de-escalation.
- Adapting interventions to meet specific needs and goals of each youth and family.
- Documenting progress, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA security standards.
- Attending required training on evidence-based practices and staying updated on industry trends.
- Coach clients on how to manage their on-going conditions and provides skills training and expressive techniques that will help them develop positive behavioral changes.
- Collaborate with the Center’s multi-disciplinarian holistic teams for providing excellence in both client care as well as program offerings and utilization of services.
Requirements
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a related human services field from an accredited university.
- Ability to teach positive behavior, stress management, crisis intervention, and build strong rapport with families.
- Flexibility to adapt to the needs of youth and families, both independently and within a team.
- Knowledge of child development, positive parenting techniques, and familiarity with available community resources.
- A valid and unencumbered driver's license, a dependable vehicle, and willingness to travel to various locations as required.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English or Creole and English is preferred, but not required.
- One year of clinical experience providing counseling and mental health services.
- Interest in offering services to children and adolescents is required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to appropriately facilitate meeting client, diagnostic, business, and outside resource needs.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of mental health challenges, child development, personality development, and modalities of treatment.
- All employees must be able to pass background check requirements in Maryland.
Preferred Job Qualifications of the Family Support Specialist:
Interest in offering opportunities for counseling outside of individual appointments such as but not limited to:
- Workshops aligned with areas of expertise, field interest, and/or populations treated.
- Potential to provide group sessions.
- Community based workshops and programs.
- Community Outreach
Physical Requirements
This role involves:
- Desk-based computer work for extended periods.
- Standing for several hours daily, occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, and driving for client and family visits.
