What are the responsibilities and job description for the Internship - Melt Facility Lab - Chemistry focused position at The Perryman Company?
The Perryman Company is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated summer intern to join our team in 2027! This position will assist in projects in the laboratory at our titanium melt facility.
Key Accountabilities
- Individual projects will be assigned to assist in the certification of new reference materials.
- Be able to understand and analyze samples in accordance with ASTM, ISO, or Perryman specifications.
- Performs assigned tasks for the analysis of titanium alloys. Tasks include preparation of samples, analyses of samples using multiple analytical techniques such as X-ray Fluorescence, Spark Atomic Emission, and Inductively Coupled Plasma Spectroscopy.
- Other responsibilities will include recording or test results, performing statistical analyses of test results, maintaining records, creating technical reports, and certifications.
- Work with outside laboratories to assist in the certification process.
- Work as an individual or in a team in a laboratory environment.
- Be an active participant in and resource for chemistry laboratory.
- Interact with laboratory technicians daily.
Requirements
- In the process of obtaining a degree in Chemistry.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Must be detail orientated.
- Must be able to follow instructions, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams).
- Must be capable and comfortable working with strong mineral acids, milling machines, hot saws, and shears.
