What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Technician position at The Perryman Company?
The Electrical Technician will be required to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain machinery used in the processing of titanium bar and wire products. This equipment includes A/C and D/C motors with drives up to 2000 HP, PLC and HMI systems and all related field I/O devices, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, new production line installations and power distribution systems.
Key Result Accountabilities
- Assembles, tests, troubleshoots and repairs motor control devices, switch panels, transformers, generator windings, solenoids, hydraulic, pneumatic and other electrical equipment and systems.
- Modifies electrical systems to correct functional deviations.
- Knowledge of and ability to program and troubleshoot PLC’s.
- Diagnoses cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and performs preventative and corrective maintenance.
- Assists in developing wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering specifications for system or equipment modifications or expansion and directs personnel performing routine installation and maintenance duties.
- Performs and records periodic electrical testing and recommends or initiates modification or replacement of equipment which fails to meet acceptable operating standards.
- Identifies potential areas of product and process improvement; assists with development of appropriate solutions.
- Involved in the development of new methods to improve product quality and automation.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and 5 years of manufacturing or industrial experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in PLC’s (Siemens preferred), HMI, SCADA and networking.
- Experience with AC and DC motor drive systems.
- Knowledge of power distribution systems, 480V to 25Kv.
- Understanding of NFPA 70E and OSHA requirements .
- Familiar with AutoCad.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and math skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proven ability to identify, assess and solve problems.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software program.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
