Summer Camp Instructor – School-Age Program

Peoples Church Preschool is seeking energetic and caring Summer Camp Instructors to join our school-age summer camp team. Our program serves children ages 6–12 and provides a rich blend of academic enrichment, creative exploration, physical activity, field trips, and hands-on learning experiences in a safe, structured, and fun environment.
As a Summer Camp Instructor, you will help lead daily activities that support cognitive growth, social development, physical fitness, creativity, and character building while fostering positive relationships with children and families.
Program Highlights
Our summer camp features:
- A large, air-conditioned classroom space with areas for art, games, engineering, and creative exploration
- Access to a gymnasium and three acres of outdoor space including basketball, soccer, kickball, and playground equipment
- A daily schedule that includes Morning Meeting, Cognitive Capers (experiments, puzzles, math, and art), reading and writing activities, and interest exploration
- Opportunities to use local resources including nature centers, trails, botanical gardens, and special field trips for immersive learning
Key Responsibilities
Activity & Program Leadership
- Plan and implement age-appropriate daily activities aligned with the camp schedule
- Lead small- and large-group activities including science experiments, games, art projects, literacy activities, and enrichment stations
- Encourage exploration, creativity, teamwork, and problem solving among campers
Child Supervision & Engagement
- Provide attentive supervision and positive guidance for all children
- Support campers’ social-emotional development and encourage respectful peer interactions
- Facilitate both structured activities and unstructured play that promote physical activity and creativity
Field Trips & Special Events
- Accompany campers on scheduled off-site excursions and support visiting presenters or on-site events
- Assist with logistics, supervision, and safety during all outings
Health & Safety
- Maintain safe, inclusive, and supportive environments for all campers
- Follow all preschool licensing requirements and health and safety procedures
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with the Camp Director and fellow staff to coordinate daily programming
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and planning sessions as required
Qualifications
- Minimum age: 18
- High school diploma or GED required; CDA or coursework in early childhood, elementary education, recreation, or a related field preferred
- Experience working with school-age children (ages 6–12) preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills
- Ability to lead activities, guide behavior positively, and engage children in meaningful learning experiences
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and participate in outdoor games and activities
- Continuous visual and auditory supervision of children
Working Environment
Summer Camp Instructors work both indoors and outdoors and participate actively in camp activities throughout the day. The program emphasizes hands-on learning, exploration, and physical activity, and instructors are expected to be enthusiastic participants in the camp community.

Pay: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour
