The role offers exposure to a broad range of healthcare regulatory issues, administrative proceedings and litigation matters within a collaborative and growing practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise healthcare clients on regulatory compliance matters and emerging legal developments
- Conduct research and analyse complex healthcare compliance issues
- Handle administrative litigation matters involving state licensure actions, payor recoupments and False Claims Act allegations
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and other litigation documents
- Conduct and defend depositions
- Support trial preparation, hearings and court appearances
- Counsel clients on compliance issues involving HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, the False Claims Act, the Stark Law and the Anti-Kickback Statute
- Advise on facility licensure requirements and reimbursement-related issues
- Collaborate with colleagues to provide practical and responsive client service
- 1st–3rd year associate
- Previous litigation experience required
- Healthcare litigation experience preferred, including medical malpractice matters
- Healthcare regulatory compliance experience with a strong interest in litigation will also be considered
- Strong legal research, writing and analytical skills
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated commitment to responsive client service and collaboration
- Licensed in North Carolina or eligible to obtain North Carolina Bar admission within one year
