School Nurse (Night Shift)

The Peddie School’s Hensle Health Center is seeking a full-time registered nurse to join our team and provide comprehensive health services to our diverse boarding student community during night shifts.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, compassionate professional with strong clinical and interpersonal skills, capable of working both independently and collaboratively. The position requires three 12-hour shifts per week.

The school nurse will deliver care in accordance with established nursing standards, policies, and procedures, applying the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Candidates should possess the knowledge and skills to meet the physical, psychological, and social needs of adolescents.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Conduct health assessments through interviews, observation, physical exams, and record review.

·         Evaluate psychosocial, emotional, cultural, environmental, and behavioral factors affecting student health.

·         Provide and manage care for students requiring inpatient, outpatient, or emergent services.

·         Practice universal precautions and adhere to infection control protocols.

·         Administer and document medications in accordance with physician orders and dispensing policies.

·         Maintain confidentiality of all patient and departmental information.

·         Participate in health education, wellness, and disease prevention initiatives.

·         Complete daily reports, maintain accurate medical charts, and ensure equipment readiness.

·         Restock medical supplies and maintain exam and dispensary areas.

·         Attend staff meetings and participate in quality assurance and professional development activities.

Qualifications:

·         Current New Jersey RN license

·         BLS/CPR certification

·         Successful completion of a New Jersey Criminal Background Check

·         Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (BSN preferred)

·         Experience in adolescent medicine, ambulatory care, or triage

·         Proficiency with electronic health records and basic computer applications
