Job Summary
The Yoga Instructor is an integral part of a successful team and are crucial to the success of the Mind/Body program. Our classes are often the only reason people visit the club. The Yoga Instructor interacts with members before, during and after class. The Yoga Instructor gives concise and consistent cueing during class, rotating music and routines to give members a fresh class, and continually learning and improving personal skills/knowledge specific to instruction.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Provides easy to follow, yet challenging routines that are changed frequently and taught in an informative non-threatening manner to a variety of good quality music.
- Plans and implements the Yoga classes to meet or exceed both member satisfaction and budgetary goals.
- Maintains a clean, operational and safe environment by inspection of equipment and the area. Performs or requests needed repair of equipment.
- Communicates with the Front Desk regarding any changes or updates concerning Yoga classes
- Periodically views the Yoga schedules on the Peak, West Bank Landing website and hard copy to assure accuracy.
- Performs position responsibilities, demonstrates accountability, continuous improvement and teamwork.
- Reminds participants to wipe down their equipment before returning them to the closet.
- Cleans and picks up the room and keeps the closets orderly after every class.
- Introduces self to new class participants and catches up on their health history in regards to the activities being instructed. Learn their names!
- Records class count on Peak App.
- Turns off all equipment, fans, stereos, and lights in the Studio.
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of equipment, exercise techniques and physiology by attending mandatory meetings and continuously attending educational classes/workshops.
- Attends meetings as requested by Fitness Director
Qualifications and Skills
- High School Diploma required; degree in related field preferred.
- 200 Hour Approved Yoga Instructor Training required
- At least one year of experience preferred
- CPR certification within 30 days of employment required
