The PAWS Clinic may be the place for you! We are seeking a part time, clinic assistant to join our staff of friendly and dedicated animal welfare professionals at our busy Taylor, Michigan clinic.

The PAWS Clinic is a non-profit, affordable spay/neuter clinic working to reduce the number of homeless animals. Our focus is surgery, and we do a lot of it! Providing excellent patient care is our top priority, and we do it in an atmosphere that is fun, team-oriented, and supportive. Our work is very physical and demanding, but we make a real difference for the animals in our community.

Responsibilities and Duties

The Veterinary Clinic Assistant is a rotating position that is cross-trained to perform elements of the office assistant, and kennel assistant duties. Duties can include:

  • Scheduling appointments and entering client paperwork into our computer system
  • Assisting with patient admission and discharge
  • Cleaning, “packing,” and autoclaving surgical instruments
  • Cleaning kennels, medical areas and common areas
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Professional job experience in a veterinary clinic or organized volunteer work with an animal welfare group is preferred
  • Compassion for our patients and clients
  • A passion for superior customer service and the mission of The PAWS Clinic are a must
  • Attention to detail is critical
  • Ability to multi-task is crucial
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time without a break, as well as regularly bend, stoop, squat, kneel and lift up to 40 pounds by yourself throughout the day are absolutely required.
  • Comfortable working in an environment with loud noises and strong smells.
  • A strong desire to provide an exceptionally clean environment for our clinic, clients and pets in our care.

Schedule

The selected candidate must be able to work between 7am and 5:30pm Mondays-Thursdays. No weekends or evenings are required, and currently no Fridays are scheduled, although Fridays may be required at some future date.
