Position Summary:
The Social Services/Activities Director plans, organizes, supervises, and directs all administrative and operational activities of the Social Services Department and Activities Department. This position is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the Social Services and Activities programs to meet and assist residents in attaining or maintaining their highest practicable well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the development, implementation, supervision, and ongoing evaluation of the Social Services Department and Activities Department
- Complete and/or direct/delegate the completion of the social services component of the comprehensive assessment
- Direct preadmission services for inbound residents and participate in interdisciplinary evaluation of residents' needs for institutional care
- Participate in facility policy development to positively impact the quality of care delivered to residents
- Direct the development, implementation, supervision, and ongoing evaluation of the activities program
- Ensure scheduled program activities are carried out seven days a week and provide a minimum of one cognitive activity, two recreational activities, and three ADL activities daily to each resident
- Oversee the establishment and operation of a Resident Council and document meeting minutes and concerns expressed during Council meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in social work or another human services field
- One year of supervised social work experience in a healthcare setting working directly with individuals
- Licensed or registered, if applicable, by the state in which practicing as Activities Director
- 2 years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years, one of which was full-time in a therapeutic activities program
