General Summary/Purpose
The HR Benefits & Engagement Manager plays a key role in supporting the teammate through oversight of benefit management and engagement initiatives. The position also serves as a liaison for internal and external stakeholders, supporting both teammate experience and organizational effectiveness. It requires ongoing management of multiple vendor relationships and internal partnership with multiple departments to support the Team and Teammate Experience.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
#1 Benefits Oversight Percentage of time: 40%
This role serves as a central resource for teammate benefits and wellness initiatives, ensuring seamless access to medical, dental, vision, life, LTD, and AD&D coverage throughout the employment lifecycle. By partnering with vendors and internal stakeholders, the HR SBM manages benefit-related processes including FMLA, COBRA, unemployment claims, and wellness initiatives such as health fairs and blood drives. They oversee the reconciliation of benefit invoices, maintain accurate records of coverage, and coordinate enrollment training with brokers and insurance representatives. Additionally, the role supports teammates by educating and opening – when applicable - internal health savings and checking accounts. With a strategic focus on education and accessibility, the role annually updates the Total Wellness Commitment guidebook and ensures teammates are equipped with the resources needed to make informed decisions about their benefits.
#2 Talent Support and Engagement Percentage of time: 40%
The HR Benefits & Engagement Manager recommends and develops employee engagement initiatives that enhance the employee experience. Through regular check-ins, this role supports wellbeing and engagement, and drives internal programs like health fairs, service awards, wellness incentives, and recognition initiatives. They also manage the company store and branded materials with Marketing. With a focus on communication, collaboration, and continuous improvement, they develop initiatives and messaging that foster a connected, inclusive workplace.
#3 Community Engagement Percentage of time: 20%
This role represents the organization within the community by actively supporting and participating in outreach initiatives and local partnerships. The HR Benefits & Engagement Manager builds relationships that strengthen the company’s presence and reputation while promoting its values. This role collaborates with internal teams to coordinate community engagement activities that align with organizational goals and foster a positive impact. As a liaison to vendors and community partners, this role organizes the United Way campaign and serves as a resource for connecting employees with community engagement/volunteer opportunities.
