We are seeking an Economic Data Analyst to support a high-profile Planning Department initiative with one of the nation's largest transportation and infrastructure agencies.
This role is ideal for an analyst with strong quantitative, statistical, and research capabilities who enjoys transforming economic, demographic, and transportation data into actionable insights that support strategic decision-making.
β Analyze economic, demographic, transportation, and labor market data
β Identify trends affecting transportation demand, inflation, capital planning, remote work patterns, and regional economic activity
β Conduct quantitative and qualitative research to support planning initiatives
β Perform economic impact, benefit-cost, and forecasting analyses
β Develop dashboards, reports, presentations, and executive summaries
β Monitor economic releases and provide commentary on key findings
β Organize and maintain datasets using best practices for knowledge transfer
β Support literature reviews, policy research, and strategic planning studies
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Data Analytics, Public Policy, Urban Planning, or related field
- Master's degree strongly preferred
- 1β3 years of relevant analytical experience
- Strong Excel skills
- Experience with Power BI
- Working knowledge of statistical and analytical tools such as:
- Python
- R
- Stata
- EViews
- Understanding of statistics, econometrics, and quantitative analysis
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience working with data from:
- U.S. Census Bureau
- Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS)
- Federal Reserve Economic Data (FRED)
- U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT)
Experience with:
- Transportation planning
- Economic forecasting
- Economic impact analysis
- Infrastructure planning
- Public sector analytics
- Data automation and data visualization
