Academic Interventionist

The Owl Education Group
Boulder, CO Full Time
POSTED ON 8/18/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 10/9/2026

Position Overview

Are you an educator who loves the "puzzle" of lesson planning? Do you find joy in taking a complex concept—whether it’s a multi-step algebraic equation or a structured five-paragraph essay—and breaking it down into a clear, creative roadmap for a student?

We are seeking an Academic Interventionist who is passionate about the craft of teaching. We aren't looking for someone to just "help with homework"; we want a specialist who loves designing personalized learning experiences. While we support students across all subjects, we have a particular soft spot for educators who love teaching both math and literacy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Custom Lesson Design: Go beyond the textbook. You will design and implement creative, multi-sensory lesson plans tailored to each student's unique learning profile (ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Autism, etc.).
  • Targeted Intervention: Provide 1:1 support in Literacy, Writing, and/or Math, focusing on building foundational skills and executive functioning.
  • Relationship-Based Coaching: Build deep trust with students, meeting them where they are emotionally and academically to foster confidence and persistence.
  • Progress Tracking: Maintain detailed session notes and communicate insights effectively with families and our collaborative team.

What You Bring to the Table

  • The "Planner" Mindset: You genuinely enjoy the prep work. You thrive on organizing information and creating materials that make sense to a neurodiverse brain.
  • Writing & Math Enthusiast: You have a strong command of the writing process and then can then switch and teach fractions.
  • Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a classroom, tutoring, or specialized clinical setting.
  • Affirming Approach: You are committed to neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed practices. You see a student’s "behavior" as communication and respond with empathy.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required (Education, Special Ed, English, or Psychology preferred).

Why Join Us?

  • Autonomy & Creativity: You have the freedom to plan lessons that actually work for the human being sitting in front of you.
  • Collaborative Culture: Work within a mission-driven team that values professional growth and "happy dances" over minor milestones.
  • Focused Environment: Conduct meaningful work in a supportive, distraction-free setting in our Boulder office.
