What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager position at The Outrider Hotel?
THE OUTRIDER HOTEL
Manitou Springs, Colorado
Lead the Experience. Drive the Energy. Own the Details.
Operations Manager
Full-Time | Reports to General Manager
Salary: $40,000 to $50,000 base performance bonuses
About The Outrider
Fresh off a complete renovation and reopening May 1st, The Outrider is a boutique adventure
hotel in the heart of Manitou Springs, Colorado. We are not a corporate hotel. We are building
something different: a place that feels genuinely local, thoughtfully designed, and run by people
who actually care about the experience. Our guests are active, curious, and discerning. They
want a clean, beautiful room, a knowledgeable team, and a hot tub or cold plunge waiting when
they get back from the trail.
We are owned by two people who are involved, present, and committed to making The Outrider
one of the best places to work in Manitou Springs.
The Role
At The Outrider, we do not just operate a hotel; we create experiences. As our Operations
Manager, you will be the engine behind the scenes and the energy on the floor, ensuring every
guest interaction feels seamless, personal, and unforgettable.
This is not a desk job. You will oversee Front Desk, Housekeeping, and Guest Services while
maintaining a constant pulse on service flow, staffing, and the overall guest experience. You will
step in during peak moments, whether that is managing arrivals, resolving guest concerns, or
elevating a VIP experience. Your leadership sets the tone.
You report directly to the GM and work closely with ownership. This is an opportunity to help
shape operations at the moment the property opens its doors. Your ideas will be heard, your
input will matter, and your impact will be visible immediately.
What You Will Own
• Housekeeping operations: scheduling, quality control, deep cleans, and linen
management. You set the standard and hold the team to it.
The Outrider Hotel | Manitou Springs, CO
• Room readiness: every room passes your eye before guests check in. You are the last
line of defense before a guest walks in.
• Property presentation: common areas, the pool and hot tub patio, sauna, cold plunge,
and outdoor spaces are always guest-ready.
• Inventory and supplies: you track what we have, order what we need, and do not over-
order.
• Team development: train and coach front desk and housekeeping staff with intention,
holding high standards while building trust and engagement.
• AGM coverage: when the GM is off or unavailable, you run the property. That includes
check-ins, guest concerns, and on-the-spot decisions.
• Operational problem-solving: quickly identify gaps and implement solutions without
hesitation. Nothing falls through the cracks.
What We Are Looking For
• 2 or more years of experience in hotel housekeeping management, front desk
leadership, or an AGM role.
• You genuinely like clean rooms. Standards matter to you personally, not just
professionally.
• Physically present and hands-on: you are not above stripping a bed or cleaning a
bathroom when the situation calls for it.
• Calm under pressure, decisive, and accountable. You hold yourself and your team to a
high bar.
• Strong communicator with guests and staff alike. Warm but direct.
• Comfortable working independently and making judgment calls without waiting to be
told.
• Familiar with property management systems (experience with Cloudbeds, Mews, or
similar is a plus).
• A connection to Manitou Springs or Colorado Springs is a genuine plus. We want
someone who can talk to guests like a local.
Compensation and Benefits
• Base salary: $40,000 to $50,000 depending on experience.
• Performance bonuses: you earn a 25% share of our review bonus pool, which pays out
per 5-star Google review and per perfect OTA score. This is real money and compounds
quickly with a great team.
• Upsell bonus: earn a percentage on direct upsells you close, plus a smaller share of
front desk upsells you help train the team to close.
• Revenue bonus: tied to monthly targets as the business matures and we establish a
baseline.
• Paid time off and standard benefits.
• A hotel you will actually be proud of.
