What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outdoor Education Instructor position at The Outdoor School?
The Outdoor School seeks Outdoor Instructors to join our dynamic team for the Fall 2026 season. The ideal candidate will have experience in outdoor education and/or camp leadership with an interest in nature-based learning.
Responsibilities Include:
1. Working alongside other Specialists, Program Coordinators, Full-Time Staff and Instructors to deliver a high quality nature-based experiential education program for all of the guests.
2. Leading teams of up to 15 students ranging in age 4th through 12th grade.
3. Facilitating orientation upon the students’ arrival and then a closure before their departure which will “review, link, extend” their experience while at TOS.
4. Eating assigned meals at the table with a team of students to ensure smooth meals and supervising after-meal clean-up.
5. Facilitating and teaching activities and academic classes with guests multiple times per day.
6. Working outdoors for a majority of the day.
7. Performing other responsibilities related to The Outdoor School and Champions Retreat programs as the program needs dictate. This will include leading night activities and performing any work crew tasks as assigned.
Outdoor Instructors live on the Camp Champions property while in- season. Camp Champions is a rural summer camp/retreat property located in Marble Falls, TX. Most meals are provided (approximately 80% of the time). In addition to pay and food, Outdoor Instructors will receive housing on property. Bedrooms will be shared with one other roommate. Some housing will include a full kitchen and living room shared with housemates while other units will be equipped with a mini fridge and microwave. All towels and bed linens should be brought by the employee and are not provided by The Outdoor School. Insurance benefits are not provided; however, workers compensation is if staff are injured on the job.
Salary : $1,360 - $1,800
