Responsibilities
- Support service technicians with routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections of marine vessels and water transportation equipment
- Assist in interpreting technical schematics, drawings, and technical manuals to aid troubleshooting and assembly tasks
- Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, calipers, and precision measuring instruments to perform mechanical and electrical work
- Help with rigging operations, fabricating parts from sheet metal, and assembling components according to specifications
- Conduct basic electrical diagnostics on ship electrical systems and marine propulsion systems to identify issues
- Maintain safety standards by properly using personal protective equipment (PPE) during all tasks
- Support watercraft maintenance activities including marine engine repair, mechanical systems repair, and diesel mechanics work
Qualifications
- Prior experience as a service technician or in marine mechanics is highly desirable
- Knowledge of schematics, technical drawings, and interpreting engineering troubleshooting guides
- Hands-on experience with electrical systems troubleshooting and maintenance of ship electrical systems is preferred
- Mechanical knowledge including marine propulsion systems maintenance, sheet metal fabrication, welding, soldering, and heavy lifting techniques
- Familiarity with tools such as power tools, calipers, ohmmeters, and other precision measuring instruments
- Experience with maintenance, repair and operations (MRO), vehicle maintenance or heavy machinery is a plus
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting heavy objects safely and working in various environmental conditions
- Strong customer service skills for interacting with team members and supporting operational needs
