Responsibilities - Reporting to the Middle School Head, the Substitute Teacher will be responsible for the following:
- Follows instructions from the school office and lead teacher to ensure optimal and engaging learning experience for students.
- Assigns classwork and homework as prescribed by the lead teacher.
- Modifies instructional style to fit the learning needs of students.
- Supervises students outside of the classroom, in hallways, at lunch, at recess, drop off and pick up if required.
- Ensures classroom instruction is handled according to the school’s policies, goals and objectives.
- Manages student behavior and maintains classroom order.
- Takes necessary and reasonable action to ensure the safety of students, materials, and school equipment.
- Follows up on instructions left by the lead teacher and ensures they are followed appropriately.
- Lives the school’s mission and core values of respect, integrity, service, excellence, and responsibility.
- Bachelor's degree and teaching experience is preferred.
- Ability to develop rapport with students.
- Fluent in the Visual Arts with the ability to teach at the Middle School level.
- Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrate computer literacy and proficiency.
