Position Overview
This is a full-time, salaried position and is not limited to a standard 40-hour workweek. The role includes both clinic and hospital responsibilities.
Educational Requirements
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP-C)
- Current Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Alabama
- Active credentials required to assist in surgical procedures at local facilities
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association
Qualifications & Experience
- Prior experience as an Advanced Practice Provider is preferred but not required
- Ortho Experience Preferred
- Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures related to patient care
- Understanding of common safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe work environment
- Familiarity with HIPAA rules and regulations
- Strong skills in documentation, report writing, and professional correspondence
- Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations
- Ability to adapt to and apply clinical guidelines and procedures
- Excellent communication skills with patients, physicians, OR staff, and team members
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist physicians during surgical procedures as directed
- Support physicians in clinic by evaluating and treating patients with various injuries and illnesses
- Conduct hospital rounds and respond to consults
- Dictate discharge summaries and consultation reports
- Accurately document patient care and treatment
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests
- Develop and implement treatment plans
- Perform patient histories, physical exams, and administer medications and injections
