Role Description The Entry-Level Medical Assistant role is a full-time, on-site position based in Los Angeles, CA. This role supports clinicians by preparing exam rooms, escorting patients, obtaining and documenting vital signs, medical histories, and medications, and ensuring accurate and timely charting in the electronic medical record. The Medical Assistant assists with basic clinical procedures, specimen collection, and coordination of lab work, following established protocols and safety standards. Daily responsibilities include managing patient flow, scheduling follow-up appointments, handling phone calls, and supporting front-desk functions as needed to maintain efficient clinic operations. The role also involves maintaining clean, well-stocked work areas, adhering to infection control practices, and providing respectful, empathetic support to patients and their families throughout their visits.
Qualifications
- Foundational clinical skills, including taking vital signs, assisting with examinations, and performing basic procedures under supervision.
- Strong patient care and customer service abilities, with a focus on empathy, confidentiality, and culturally sensitive communication.
- Competence in documentation and data entry, including use of electronic medical records and accurate recording of patient information.
- Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks, manage patient flow, and support a fast-paced oncology clinic.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, respond to direction, and adapt to changing clinical needs.
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or relevant clinical training is preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe.
- Prior healthcare or clinical experience (including externships or internships) is beneficial, especially in oncology or primary care settings.
