What are the responsibilities and job description for the Stagehand position at The Ohio State University?
Job Description
Stagehands serve as intermittent staff for the Schottenstein Center and provide general support for special events, including load-in and load-out. Stagehands follow direction from staff and road crew, interact and communicate well, work safely as part of a team, and are flexible and accepting of changes in a creative environment.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Truck loading/unloading
- General labor including box pushing
- Driving a forklift
- Setting construction carpentry/staging and props
- Performing fly rail and loading bridge operations
- Installing and operating lighting and electrical
- Installing and operating sound equipment
- Running video presentation components (camera, switcher, projector, display screen)
- Rigging installation/operation
- Managing stage crew
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Experience handling show production equipment and using hand tools
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. safely, work at height from ladders and personnel lifts and have the ability to reach, climb and kneel
