Job Description
Functions as a Research Budget Analyst responsible for the development, negotiation and administration of clinical trial budgets for the College of Medicine's Center for Clinical Research Managment (CCRM); develops and implements internal research budgets; collaborates in negotiating external sponsor budgets and payment terms; collaborates with clinical research staff and appropriate OSU departments to accurately determine research costs for protocol specific clinical trial activities; oversees set-up of appropriate budget forms required for each trial & provides direction to clinical team on appropriate completion and processing of forms to ensure billing compliance; leads quarterly sponsor invoicing activities for active studies with minimal direction; collects, analyzes and interprets subject visit details and activities from research study coordinators; initiates and tracks invoices, sponsors according to contract payment terms and follows up on outstanding revenue; administers and implements project budgets; reviews and approves clinical trial patient research bills and expenses; determines departmental personnel payments based on internal budgets; reconciles research project expenses with general ledger; manages and oversees financial close-out of trials; assists with fiscal reporting related to project and/or department post award activities; implements fiscal processes and procedures that ensure adherence to appropriate internal controls and compliance with established policies and procedures; creates online study calendars to ensure calendars accurately reflect the study protocols.
Minimum Education Required
Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in business administration or accounting.
Required Qualifications
1 to 2 years' experience in financial accounting or budgeting required, preferably in a healthcare environment.
Preferred Experience
Considerable research budget and contract management experience at a public academic research institution desired; experience negotiating grant budgets preferred; knowledge of OSU Office of Sponsored Programs research accounting policies and procedures desired; advanced knowledge of financial tools and software applications highly desired.
Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
