Role Description The Cardiac Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a full-time, on-site role based in Columbus, OH. The APP will provide comprehensive care to cardiac surgery patients across the continuum, including pre-operative evaluation, post-operative management, and follow-up care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting patient assessments, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, managing medications, assisting with procedures, and collaborating closely with cardiac surgeons, nurses, and other interdisciplinary team members. The APP will participate in care planning, patient and family education, discharge planning, and coordination of transitions of care. Additional responsibilities may include contributing to quality improvement initiatives, adhering to evidence-based protocols, and supporting the academic and research mission of the Medical Center.

Qualifications

• Current national certification and licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, with eligibility for practice in the state of Ohio.
• Experience in cardiac surgery, cardiology, critical care, or a related specialty, including proficiency in managing post-operative and high-acuity patients.
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic reasoning, and procedural skills, with the ability to use evidence-based guidelines in patient management.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team and to educate patients and families.
• Commitment to continuous learning, participation in quality improvement, and alignment with the Medical Center’s values of inclusiveness, empathy, and innovation.
• Master’s degree (for NP) or completion of an accredited PA program; BLS and ACLS certification required or obtained within institutional timeframes.
• Comfort with electronic health records and digital tools for documentation, order entry, and coordination of care.
