Student Assistant 2 -Greenhouse Operations-Wooster

Provide service and support in the greenhouses on the OSU Wooster Campus. Assists in maintaining equipment and greenhouse space. Prepares soil mixes; mixes and applies fertilizers. Installs and maintains irrigation systems; participates in designing modification and/ or adaptations to irrigation system to meet specific needs. Help take down and hang new lights. Cleans and maintains greenhouse facilities (sweeping and cleaning greenhouse rooms and hallways, washing pots, dumping trash). Assist with integrated pest management (IPM) in existing crop- protection techniques and strategies to control pests and disease. Plant, water, fertilizes, and maintains greenhouse plants per specifications for each research project, if needed. Independent and group work required. Basic computing skills a plus. Must be reliable, responsible, and hard working.

Responsibilities will be moderate and less routine and will require responsibility and good judgement. May coordinate activities for other student employees. Requires providing excellent customer service, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work in a professional environment. Requires previous experience and knowledge or skill in student assistant role. Represent the department and the university with the highest degree of integrity applying OSU mission and shared values.
