Peer Support Specialist – Coleman Health Services: Canton, OH

Do you have lived experience with mental illness, or a substance use disorder, and are far enough along in your recovery that you are ready to help others who have similar lived experiences. Coleman Health Services is seeking full-time Peer Support Specialists in Stark County, Ohio.

Peer Support Specialist Job Duties

• Observe behaviors for input on treatment planning and report significant changes to clinical staff. Encourage residents to meet specified goals and objectives. Chart client progress daily through residential progress notes.
• Maintain clean environment in the home and follow the shift responsibilities and cleaning schedule assignments.
• Act as a role model to peers, exhibiting competency in personal recovery and the use of coping skills, serving as an advocate, and providing information about peer support in outpatient and settings.
• Perform a wide range of tasks to help peers regain independence within the community and ownership over their own recovery process by using a variety of techniques.
  
  

Peer Support Requirements

• High school diploma
• Completed state peer support training or willingness to complete such training
• Lived experience in mental illness or substance use
• Able to cope with mental and emotional stress related to work with persons who are experiencing mental health concerns and crisis
