Position Description
The Director, User Experience is a critical role in the organization bringing in a unique blend of user insights, client understanding, and skill for the creation of transformative experiences for our clients and their customers. As a User Experience Director you will have the opportunity to participate in all aspects of a project and lead the UX effort and work in collaboration with other leads of the team, including design leads, content strategy leads, project managers, researchers and others. You will have the opportunity to lead other UX members of the team. You will receive and gain customer insights from primary and secondary research, and apply this knowledge in the creation of site architectures, user flows, and ultimately the service and product design experiences you will design and prototype.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Be accountable for the execution and quality of deliverables of cross-functional teams, and show ability to frame and position the intent and content of deliverables to a diverse group of stakeholders
- Mentor UX team members toward top performance and help them track toward long-term career goals
- Partner with client strategy, design, content, and develop teams on UI/UX roadmaps
- Meet with key leaders and stakeholders to understand business goals, target audience, consumer journeys and other factors that will impact that user experience approach
- Conduct site audits and best-in-class industry scans to evaluate current state experiences of our clients and the industry as a whole
- Lead wireframe and prototype creation through all phases of a project, from concept through design and development
- Create a deep understanding and empathy for our customers across diverse audiences, including designers, developers, client strategists, and business leaders
- Lead the advancement of the UX practice at OX, staying knowledgeable about trends and tools of the trade; occasionally contribute thought leadership to the organization
- Coordinate on ensuring we meet requirements for accessibility
- Other duties as assigned by your manager
Required Experience
- 10 years of in-depth knowledge and experience of Interaction Design and Service Design across varied users, business problems, and devices
- Prior experience leading UX projects and other team members
- Ability to learn new software quickly; experience with Google G Suite, Figma, Sketch, InVision, Axure, Confluence, Validately, JIRA, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
- Expertise with driving and applying user-centered design processes
- Accustomed to working collaboratively with customers and cross-functional team members
- Beginning to develop an area of specialization within the greater design landscape and willingness to develop a deeper understanding of the following but not limited to: User Research and Strategy, Visual Design, Service Design, and Content Development
- Expertise creating interaction models, flows, and wireframes
- Advanced knowledge of rapid prototyping methods, ranging from paper sketching to digital prototypes
- Passion and commitment for great design
- Experience working in an agile environment
