What are the responsibilities and job description for the Prep Cook position at The Oceanfront Litchfield Inn?
Overview
Prep Cooks prepare ingredients, set up workstations, properly store and maintain kitchen supplies and inventory, and other related duties to support food & beverage operations.
Prep Cook responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
- Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
- Follow recipes to prepare food using various utensils and methods
- Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
- Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
- Check quality of ingredients
- Monitor stock and stock product when there are shortages
- Ensuring the cleanliness of the restaurant’s spaces, including kitchen, prep areas, dining areas, and restrooms as needed
- Other duties as assigned

- Prior experience as a prep cook
- Willing to assist fellow team members as needed
- Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally with guests, coworkers and supervisors
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must have positive attitude while performing tasks
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, and stand for long periods of time
- Strong attention and care to details
- Responsibility, reliability and honesty
- Teamwork and collaboration
