DESCRIPTION

The Program Lead for both Girls and Boys Varsity Programs is responsible for the oversight of athletic training; coordinating the strength and conditioning workouts with the Strength and Conditioning coach; providing technical support and training to athletes, and overall communication as appropriate to the sport.  Coaches have responsibilities not only to the students under their supervision, but also to the parents, the school, and the community.

Essential Functions

  • Exhibits and mentors the scholar-athletes in good sportsmanship and fair play.
  • Attends league meetings and completes all required trainings/certifications
  • Attends mandatory coaches’ meetings and trainings.
  • Attends pre-season Athletics meetings (in evening) with parents/guardians.
  • Monitors the conduct of their scholar-athletes during practices and games.
  • Provides a safe environment for the scholar-athletes by checking the playing area and equipment before each practice and game.
  • Prevent injuries to the best of their ability through thoughtful, balanced workouts and practices.
  • Instructs scholar-athletes in the basic rules and fundamentals of the sport.
  • Implements Athlete registration and evaluations and maintains the evaluation base.
  • Reports match scores to CIF and Social Media outlets.
  • Send weekly communication email to scholar-athletes and their parents/guardians with a look ahead to the coming 1-2 weeks (practices and games), objectives for the week, and any other pertinent information.
  • Regularly communicates with scholar-athletes, parents/guardians, and the Athletics Department to ensure a positive experience for all scholar-athletes/team.

  • Travels to and from competitions scheduled by yourself and the AD.
  • Travels to potential overnight trips during the entire season, which includes regional and state playoffs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent must be able to do the following:

  • Stand for extended periods
  • Sit for extended periods
  • Bend and reach for filing and other job-related functions
  • Climb up and down stairs
  • Bend, stoop, and lift to move and retrieve materials
  • Pull, push, and lift
  • Reach both above and below shoulder height.  

Specific visual abilities include the following:

  • Close vision
  • Color vision
  • Depth perception, and
  • The ability to adjust focus. 
  • Must be able to visually inspect work. 
  • Manual dexterity to operate computer and other office equipment required.

Qualifications:

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
  • Three years minimum of related coaching experience is preferred.
  • Valid CPR/AED/First Aid Certification (American Red Cross/American Heart Association)
  • General knowledge of best practices in interscholastic athletics and specifically Indoor Volleyball.
  • Must have a Driver’s License and be able to drive a 7-passanger mini-van

Salary : $35 - $40
