Join the Upper Dauphin Area School District as a Substitute Food Service Worker and help create positive dining experiences for our students and staff. In this flexible, paid position, you'll provide support in our school cafeterias by filling in for regular food service staff as needed.
This substitute position follows the Upper Dauphin Area School District K–12 school calendar and offers an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking flexible, part-time work in a school setting.
Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation by assembling ingredients and following established recipes and food safety procedures.
- Serve breakfast and lunch to students and staff in a friendly, professional manner.
- Operate the serving line efficiently while providing excellent customer service.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Clean and sanitize workstations, kitchen equipment, serving areas, and dining spaces.
- Restock food, utensils, condiments, and other supplies as needed.
- Assist with accommodating students' special dietary needs as directed.
- Work collaboratively with cafeteria staff to ensure efficient daily meal service.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support the food service program.
Qualifications
- Previous food service, restaurant, cafeteria, catering, or hospitality experience is preferred but not required.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Knowledge of food safety and proper food handling practices is a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Dependable, flexible, and willing to learn.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift or carry supplies as needed.
- Must be available to work on an as-needed basis during scheduled school hours.
