What You'll Do:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Heavy Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of mining and support equipment, including loaders, excavators, dozers, skid steers, and other heavy machinery. Additionally, you will:
- Apply your High School Diploma and 3-5 years of heavy equipment repair experience to inspect and repair heavy mining and support equipment.
- Maintain and repair hydraulic systems, pumps, cylinders, valves, and hoses.
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, powertrain components, and electrical systems.
- Service and repair braking, steering, and suspension systems.
- Perform welding and fabrication repairs as needed.
- Read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Complete scheduled preventive maintenance to maximize equipment reliability.
- Accurately document maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
- Follow all MSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Perform Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures before servicing equipment.
- Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) prior to beginning work.
- Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and toolbox talks.
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical troubleshooting
- Ability to obtain and maintain MSHA certification
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift 25 pounds or more on a repetitive basis.
- Ability to pass and participate in random drug and alcohol testing.
- Welding certification preferred
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred
- Experience with OEM diagnostic systems such as CAT, Komatsu, John Deere, or similar platforms preferred
