Part-Time Preschool Teaching Assistant (Daycare, Ages 2–5)

Overview
We are seeking a part-time teaching assistant for our brand new Reggio-Emilia based preschool. We are a play based, creative and nurturing preschool. The ideal candidate aligns with this vision of learning, loves working with young children, is dependable and reliable, has good communication skills, and is eager to learn. Previous experience in a daycare or preschool setting is a plus. This role involves creating a nurturing and creative environment where children can learn, grow, and explore their creativity.

This is a part-time position, and ideal for someone looking to work 2 or 3 days a week.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a team to create a safe, welcoming, inclusive and creative classroom environment for all children.
• Support the lead teacher throughout the day as needed.
• Communicate with parents and caregivers about children's progress and any concerns.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times.
• Assist with daily routines, including helping children with toileting, diapering, meals, and rest time.
• Engage in ongoing professional development as required NYC regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required)
• Experience working with young children (preferred but not required)
• First aid certification is a plus; willingness to obtain certification if not currently held.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and staff members.
• Must be willing to work with children of all ages 2-5.
• Patience, creativity, and a genuine love for working with young children are essential traits for success in this role.

Employment is contingent upon completion of required background checks and health clearances in accordance with NYC licensing regulations.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12 – 20 per week
