The Associate Director of Admissions and Director of Financial Aid plays a key role in administering the admissions and financial aid programs at The Nightingale-Bamford School. This position requires strong organizational and time-management skills, excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, and a high level of energy and professionalism.

The Associate Director of Admissions and Director of Financial Aid must build and maintain collaborative relationships with all members of the Nightingale community—students, parents, faculty, and staff—and be comfortable representing and communicating the strengths of Nightingale’s academic program and school culture. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to Nightingale’s mission of enrolling a diverse student body, a passion for girls’ education, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines with humor, flexibility, and grace under pressure.

Previous experience in admissions, financial aid, and/or admissions platforms and databases is preferred, though not required. This is a full-time, exempt, 12-month position beginning July 1, 2026, and reports to the Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

The responsibilities of the position are outlined below; however, they do not encompass the full scope of the role. As with all members of the Admissions Department, this position is also expected to perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management and/or the Head of School, as needed.

Senior Associate Director of Admissions for Middle and Upper SchooI:

  • Interview families applying to grades V-XI primarily and other grades as needed
  • Write evaluations of family/student interviews
  • Maintain communication and follow-up with applicant families in a timely manner, via phone and email
  • Recruit, organize, and manage student tour guides and tour schedules, and conduct tours as necessary
  • Plan and manage Middle and Upper School Admissions events, including open houses and welcome parties
  • Assist with other Admissions events
  • Proactively engage in outreach to increase the breadth of sending schools and to promote efforts in attracting students from diverse backgrounds
  • Arrange for recruiting visits to sending schools when appropriate
  • Assist in preparation of digital student files for review by admissions committees
  • Oversee the admissions committee review process, including communications and follow up with sending schools
  • Organize, coordinate, and manage the scheduling of revisit days for admitted students in grades V–XI
  • Compile and assess statistical data appropriate to middle and upper school admissions
  • Exercise discretion in dealing with sensitive admissions and financial aid issues
  • Attend school fairs
  • Manage application process for Upper and Middle school prospective families from receipt of initial application through final decision communications
  • Serve as middle and upper school liaison
  • Assist in updating the OnBoard admissions application platform each year
  • Upkeep data/records/upkeep of digital files
  • Participate in weekly office meetings
  • Assume additional duties as assigned

Director of Financial Aid:

  • Manage financial aid application process and budget, in partnership with the Chief Financial and Operating officer and Business Office
  • Implement and oversee respectful and timely communication with families requiring
  • Establish and maintain professional, welcoming, and collaborative relationships with all families throughout the admissions and enrollment process
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the financial aid platform, Clarity, including managing application workflows and supporting families through the process
  • Gain facility and familiarity with the financial aid program
  • Organize, coordinate, and manage the collection of various documents that families need to submit in order to be considered for
  • Interface with division heads and department heads on a consistent basis in order to prepare in advance for any funds needed by students
  • Oversee the financial aid process for all families K-12: Evaluate all new and returning family applications; communicate with prospective and current families on application process; maintain financial aid database
  • Lead financial aid committee for new and returning family award decisions
  • Collaborate with key administrators, parents, and students to implement Beyond Tuition program: creation of policies for allocating financial aid for current student expenses not covered by tuition; communicate with families and external parties on allocation and distribution of funds
  • Collaborate with Business Office in financial aid budget analysis and forecasting for school administration, NAIS/DASL
  • Compile and analyze statistical data around the financial aid process
  • Engage in professional development for best practices in financial aid administration

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • A love of learning alongside and working with young women
  • Prior experience working in admissions preferred, but not required
  • Familiarity with Blackbaud systems preferred, specifically OnBoard admissions portal
  • Familiarity with Clarity financial aid platform preferred, but not required
  • Flexibility to work longer hours, occasional evenings, and weekends during peak admissions season
  • A love of collaborating with a team in a high pressure environment
  • Commitment to girls’ education

SALARY.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, this position's annual salary range is $130,000-$160,000. When extending an offer, Nightingale considers factors such as (but not limited to) the position's scope and responsibilities, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, and market and organizational considerations.
