Are you looking for an opportunity to work independently and remote in the Knoxville, TN area? The Nichols Company is seeking a qualified construction estimator to prepare pre-construction estimates in the Knoxville, TN area. This position will provide residential construction estimates for various home-building, remodel and renovation projects while upholding the organizations commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

As an independent contractor, responsibilities include preparing pre-construction estimates for schematic and design development level bid documents. Qualified candidates will be responsible for finalizing project cost & alternates; verify subcontractors' scopes & costs; analyze project risks; resolve conflicts and questions on bid scopes.

Essential Functions

· Project Planning: Plan and prioritize to achieve quality and timely results while remaining dependable and punctual of all work-related commitments

· Professionalism: Positive attitude, professional demeanor and appearance that develops and maintains productive relationships with project team, suppliers, and contractors

· Quality Control: Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations

· Computer Skills: Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Office programs and willingness to learn other software technology

Qualified Candidates

· Must live in the Knoxville, TN area

· Possess two to five years of residential construction estimating experience

· Progressive experience in skilled trades and/or Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field

· Equivalent combination of the above education, training and experience.

· Key competencies include but are not limited to self-motivated, clear communication, and dependability

· Must be proficient in reading plans and specifications

· Must have reliable transportation and communication means

Job Type:

· Independent contractor, remote

Compensation:

· $24.00 - $34.00 per hour

· Bonus Plan

Experience:

· Construction Experience: Two (required) to five years (preferred) of residential construction estimating experience

License/Certification:

· Driver’s License (required)

· Multiple locations in the Knoxville, TN area

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

Pay: $26.00 - $34.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 30 per week
