The Next Step Public Charter School (TNS) is seeking a caring, energetic, and dedicated Part-Time Childcare Teacher Assistant to support our on-site childcare program serving the children of our student parents.

As a Childcare Teacher Assistant, you'll work alongside our Lead Teacher to provide a safe, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for infants and toddlers. Your work will directly support student parents by ensuring their children receive exceptional care while they pursue their educational goals.

What You'll DoSupport Children's Growth & Development

• Assist in implementing engaging, age-appropriate lessons and learning activities.
• Foster children's cognitive, social-emotional, language, and motor skill development.
• Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment where every child can thrive.
• Observe, document, and celebrate children's developmental milestones and progress.

Provide Exceptional Care

• Supervise children during classroom activities, meals, outdoor play, and rest time.
• Meet each child's individual needs, including feeding, diapering, toileting, comforting, and supporting self-help skills.
• Ensure children's health, safety, and well-being at all times.
• Maintain accurate attendance, daily records, and incident documentation.

Partner with Families

• Build positive relationships with parents and caregivers.
• Share information about children's growth, accomplishments, and daily experiences.
• Encourage family engagement through classroom activities and special events.
• Support parents as partners in their child's development and learning journey.

Collaborate with Your Team

• Work closely with the Lead Teacher and Director of Childcare and Training to deliver a high-quality early childhood program.
• Assist with lesson planning, child observations, classroom organization, and developmental assessments.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and ongoing coaching.
• Maintain compliance with licensing requirements, health and safety regulations, and program policies.

What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Child Development Associate (CDA) Certification in Infants and Toddlers (Required).
• Minimum of two years of experience working in an early childhood education setting.
• Current Child & Infant CPR/AED and First Aid Certification.
• Experience working with infants, toddlers, or multi-age classrooms.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Early Childhood Special Education, or a related field.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Compensation

Hourly Salary: $23.90 - $27.80 Commensurate with Experience
